On the way to Chandigarh took a break at Kandaghat - a small town on the Kalka-Shimla National Highway No. 22 in the Solan district of the state of Himachal Pradesh, India. It is about 90kms from Chandigarh (airport).
Indian Institute of Advanced Study is housed at the former Viceregal Lodge, built in 1884-88. Also known as Rashtrapati Niwas. It houses some of the most ancient articles and photographs going back to the times of the British rule in India. The Viceregal Lodge was built in the Jacobethan style during the regime of Lord Dufferin.
