http://www.dilipbhatia.com/Oscar Wilde spoke of the Artiste as a ‘Creator of Beautiful Things’. Beauty is at its best when represented in the visual form. And photography, whether moving or still, captures the essence of this beauty in its ultimate starkness. Mahesh Hiremath, as a commercial photographer has been doing the same for over fifteen years. To people familiar with advertising, he needs no introduction. They have known him through his images for a myriad of national and international brands.
In spite of his many years, and a huge body of work, Mahesh doesn’t believe in slotting his work into rigid categories and loves breaking commercial perceptions in his personal work. (One of the many reasons probably, why his portfolio contains mostly personal work!) Mahesh is in the business of photography simply because of his passion for taking pictures, and probably why he brings such single-minded purpose to his work. His rare brand of enthusiasm and discipline is familiar to all his clients and producers.
Mahesh is best known in the recent years for being one of the first photographers in India to embrace digital imaging so that he could give final retouched / composite digital images for output. In 2004 he is ventured into digital photography with the same enthusiasm and the need to personally shape the final image.
Mahesh believes that technology is not an end by itself but it’s the collective effort of the team that makes the pictures.
http://www.maheshhiremath.com/Born and brought up in Powai as a young lad, photography was a hobby for Mukesh Trivedi. The game of trial and error was played on a friend’s Yashica Electro “35”. The desire was to possess an SLR professional camera.
Nature photography, in and around Powai was always a subject of interest –
be it the IIT campus, hills overlooking the serene Vihar Lake, or our very own Powai Lake.
Mukesh always experimented with the different facets of photography like, portfolios, landscapes, etc. But, the passion was always for night photography. Journalism was always on his mind, but creating a niche for himself was made possible, under the guidance of Shri Manohar Desai at the National Institute of Photography (NIP), Dadar.
He began working as a photographer as a freelance for the Indian Express, Mumbai. During this period Mukesh exclusively covered the regular, dreadful leopard attacks in Powai and adjoining areas with his journalist friend, Vijay Singh from the same newspaper. Mukesh also won the award for the “Best Picture of the Year”, Salon 2003 organized by the Photographic Society of India (PSI), and a second prize for landscape photography in 2003 organized by the PSI.
Currently Mukesh is working as a photographer at the Daily News & Analysis (DNA), Mumbai under the esteemed guidance of Mr. Sherwin Crasto. Trial and error is still the name of the game……..
mukeshmtrivedi@gmail.com +91-9820251911Swapan Mukherjee is a veteran amongst the leading photographers of India. According to Pritish Nandi, one of the finest.
Swapan earned his stripes in London, England, where he had studied photography and then worked for several years with one of the leading photographers of the country. Thereafter he has been freelancing for British, European, Middle Eastern and African publications.
Returned to Mumbai in 1985 to work as the Chief in House photographer of women’s magazine, Eve’s weekly, and making inroads in advertising and commercial work. Won several awards, both internationally as well as from several advertising clubs around India. He now works independently in the building, hospitality and travel industries.
At the Photographic Exhibition in Powai he will exhibit a few images from his extensive collection of digital photographic art. His website at http://www.swapanmukherjee.com showcases over 300 images, covering his entire career.
http://www.swapanmukherjee.com/Venkatesh Hariharan (more commonly known as "Venky") stumbled upon
photography when he took an old Praktica camera with him on a trek to
the Valley of Flowers in 1995. Upon seeing the results of this trek,
his friend and mentor in photography, Aijaz Ahmed encouraged him to
take this hobby seriously.
Hariharan therefore traded his Praktica for a Canon FT and started
shooting flowers, architecture, landscapes and portraits. Perhaps
influenced by his many artist friends and his own former profession as
a journalist, he combines the instinct and reflexes of a
photojournalist with the vision of a painter. He takes great pleasure
in capturing the beauty of the moment. Currently, he shoots with a
Nikon D70s.
Hariharan works for Red Hat, the world's leading open source software
company. At Red Hat, he evangelizes the open source movement which is
based on collaboration, community and shared ownership of intellectual
resources. Open Source is a global movement aimed at sharing of
knowledge rather than restricting access to it.
He has had a long career as a technology journalist, which include
being Executive Editor of Express Computer, a part of Indian Express
Newspapers (Mumbai) Limited; writing for leading Indian and
international publications and being the first Indian to be selected
for the Knight Science Journalism Fellowship at the Massachusetts
Institute of Technology in 1998. He was awarded the title of "Indian
Open Source Personality of the Year" recently at LinuxAsia 2006.Suchit Nanda is an IT professional from Mumbai. He is a pioneer of Bulletin Board Services and Internet Services in the region.
